Thursday’s winter weather closed the door to a number of after school programs across the viewing area. Instead of just hearing about it here on the news, or from their kids, a simple phone call is helping to keep thousands of Traverse Area Public School parents in the loop.

Charlevoix County Sheriff George T. Lasater says there were seven occupants in the vehicle. It's believed the driver, Jeremy Berg, 33-years-old of East Jordan, lost control of the vehicle, striking a bank of trees and causing the vehicle to turn on its side. Sheriff Lasater says the two juveniles were killed on impact. As for the five remaining passengers, Lasater says everyone is okay, but one person was treated and released from a near-by hospital.
